In the aftermath of 9/11, America looked deep into its collective heart for compassion, its soul for courage and its armed forces for strength. Honoring our nation’s military, America’s Child provides higher education assistance and mental healthcare assistance for the children of our military heroes: the fallen men and women who proudly sacrificed their lives fighting terrorism and whose strength and courage has not only kept our freedoms, but has also kept our nation safe.
The Armed Forces, and the families of the young men and women in harm’s way, have made this sacrifice and borne the burdens for us, as they always do. Our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines are a tough, proud bunch. They are spending years – not just months – away from their families. They are serving under conditions of hardship, loneliness, fear and danger – tour after tour, year after year – keeping us safe. What our military people do every day, under the most hazardous conditions and without complaint, deserve our unified respect and support as a country. And when they pay the ultimate cost with their precious lives, we need to remember them…and the loved ones they left behind.
And we do.
Our beneficiaries include more than 1,200 children in 26 states and territories. Yet, vital to the strength of America’s Child are continued gifts of all sizes. With your gift, you will help rebuild futures, one child at a time. The financial assistance they receive is significant today, but small compared to the benefits they will reap in their future. Your help today will have a direct impact on restoring a child’s hope, repairing a child’s life and reviving a child’s spirit. Your help today will rebuild a child’s future.
It is of note that 90 percent of every dollar donated will reach a child in need. The remaining 10 percent is used for ongoing program expansion, administrative overhead and awareness efforts.
