Support Resources ~ Mental Healthcare Assistance
Honoring our nation's armed forces, America's Child provides mental healthcare assistance for the children of our military heroes: the fallen men and women who proudly sacrificed their lives fighting terrorism and whose strength and courage has kept our nation safe.
 Mental Healthcare Assistance Program
America's Child helps provide supplemental long-term mental heath care assistance by paying for premiums, co-pays and deductibles for individual and group counseling, where applicable, for children under the age of 18, or to age 22 if continually enrolled in institutions of higher learning.
Who is eligible?
Eligible participants are natural born and legally adopted children of legal US residents who are financially needy children under the age of 18 or age 22 if enrolled in accredited institutions of higher learning, who have lost one or both parents in patriotic service to their country fighting our nation's war against terrorism.
How is "needy" defined?
In general terms, financial need is based on an individual's ability to pay compared to the cost of the accredited institution. The amount of money available to any child for educational assistance will depend on the size of the Fund, the number of eligible participants, and the financial need of applicants.
What is the application process?
- Register the child with America's Child by completing the online Child Registry at www.AmericasChild.org, or telephone us at (661) 633-9076.
- Provide America's Child with the following verification documents:
- The child's Social Security Number
- A copy of the child's birth certificate
- A copy of the parent's death certificate
- A marriage license. If not available, please provide a notarized letter of reference from a disinterested party (clergy, school principal, social worker, employer, etc) that proves you are the guardian of the child.
- A good-faith statement of need.
How can Mental Healthcare Assistance be received?
Each registered and verified child is eligible for mental healthcare assistance. All mental healthcare needs, not excluded, that are not being provided by other insurance coverage, charitable program or governmental aid will be eligible for reimbursement or direct payment to provider on a quarterly basis only. Maximum physical and mental healthcare benefits for any calendar year is $5,000.
Reimbursement or direct payment will only be made for professional medical or mental health services for which adequate documentation is provided. All benefits are provided only on the basis of funds available, and will be terminated each calendar year when total funds available for this purpose have been exhausted. Representatives of registered children may call to ascertain availability of funds prior to incurring expenses. In the event that all funds for this program are exhausted, and additional funds are unlikely to become available, this program may be terminated.
